Target audience

The target audience of this workshop are PhD students, who are planning to work as postdocs and scientific (junior) researchers, as well as junior researchers. By taking part in this workshop, participants gain a competitive advantage in the highly attractive job market in R&D.

Learning objectives

After the workshop, participants can generate relevant research questions and draft successful research proposals.

Methods and techniques

The first afternoon session primarily comprises an active lecture based on the lecturer’s comprehensive experience of applying for public funding. In the second afternoon session we will reflect and evaluate the project ideas of the participants and discuss how to best apply the insights from the first session to the proposals. Participants will receive feedback on their project proposals and the further procedure for submitting a proposal will be explained.

Requirements

Please prepare a project proposal for a research project based on the template (length: one to max. two pages) and submit it to halbherr@haw-bw.de until 13 February 2023. The template with explanatory information on how to prepare a project proposal will be sent to you by e-mail after the registration deadline.

About the trainers

Markus Schmid is Professor at the Albstadt-Sigmaringen University of Applied Sciences and Director of the Sustainable Packaging Institute (SPI).

Mara Strenger is a researcher at the Albstadt-Sigmaringen University of Applied Sciences, research group leader at & deputy institute director of the Sustainable Packaging Insitute (SPI).
